4 days in AustraliaThe last destination of our honeymoon was Australia. It was so hard to decide where exactly we wanted to go on our first visit to the country, but so happy we chose Queensland and got to see so many different sceneries. Check out the details of our stay below! Wangetti, QLD, AustraliaActivities: Hartley's Crocodile Adventures Straight from the airport, we hopped in our rental and drove up to our hotel. On the way we made a pitstop at Hartley's Crocodile Adventures in Wangetti Beach. Don't be fooled by the title. They have every animal you were hoping to see on your Australian visit! Crocs, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, and more. We went to the crocodile show, which was pretty insane. Imagine a more tame Steve Erwin. The guide showed off all the crocs different talents- death rolls, hiding in two feet of water, jaw strength. It was incredible. After that we went on a river tour, seeing and baiting other crocs. I felt like a little kid in the kangaroo and wallaby pen. They were everywhere and it was up to you to approach them. It was a little intimidating at first, so we started with the wallabies and worked our way up to the larger kangaroos. So friendly and cute and love to be fed! We didn't want to pay to hold a koala (plus their claws freak me out a bit), so we stuck around for the koala show case where a guide walks around with a koala, allows you to pet and ask any questions. Their texture was different than I was expecting- more spongey and less furry. Still- super cute and I was in pure bliss. We probably spent a good 3 hours there before they were closing. If you're efficient, I don't think you need much more than that! There was definitely a lot of animals that we didn't see, but we wanted to hit the main ones and successfully accomplished that. Mossman, QLD, AustraliaIt was a little bit of a hike to get up to our hotel, but omg was it worth it. The pictures speak for themselves. This hotel is located in the Daintree Rainforest- a jungle. Once we checked in, we sat by the bar and were served a complementary drink while our bags were being taken to our rooms. After that we were shown our rooms, a cute little bungalow looking over the river. Dinners were always delicious and breakfast was complimentary. Overall great customer service and gorgeous beyond belief. I've only seen Drew get "lost" in nature a handful of times, and this was one of them. ACTIVITIES: Mossman Gorge, Kayaking, Skydiving, While staying in the Silky Oaks Lodge, we wandered the area, hanging out on the river that the resort overlooks. There are no crocodiles in this river, so no need to worry. We built these stone towers that everyone else seemed to be making too. We went kayaking up and down the river, which was absolutely gorgeous. There were also hammocks and other water activities. One morning, we spent half the day at Mossman Gorge. You can read more about that here. We also took a little trip to Cairns to SKYDIVE! Such a crazy experience- read more here. Port Douglas, AustraliaActivities: Great Barrier Reef A full day was dedicated to going snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef. It was as unbelievable and gorgeous as you can imagine. Definitely not a scene from Finding Nemo, but still a great experience. Read more about it here. Sydney, AustraliaThe Amora Hotel was extremely comfy and very modern. We didn't spend much time at the hotel itself, but I can tell you that I left my engagement ring in the bathroom (long story) and we went back for it after calling, and it was still there. So that speaks to the integrity of the staff. ACTIVITIES: Sydney Opera House, Aquarium, Ferry, Manly Beach, We arrived to Sydney at night, so we really only had one full day there and decided to make the most of it. Let me just start by saying that this was during Australia's "winter" and everyone kept telling us how cold it was going to be in Sydney. It was 70 degrees lol. We were probably the only ones without a coat on, but it felt great out besides a little bit of a chilly breeze. We started our day by walking to the opera house and bridge. Then we grabbed lunch by the dock and took a ferry to Manly Beach. We didn't stay long, but long enough to sit down and relax on the beach. Then we hopped back on the ferry, which took us to the Aquarium. I had seen pics of when my family went (without me) so it was cool to go and see all the wild life. We hung out by the harbor and called it a day. After all that exploring we were exhausted and hungry. So yeah, we ended up at Krispy-Kreme. Although we didn't get to spend ton of time in Australia, we still had an amazing experience from Skydiving, to snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, to exploring both the jungle and the city. It was such a great way to cap off our Honeymoon!
