Once we started the hike, we learned our guide spoke excellent English and was very informative about the culture. We learned about their way of life, means of travel, education and so much more. Throughout the hike, we were able to stop and get some scenic photos of Mount Toubkal. Our guide was amazing, guiding me through the steep areas (so helpful because I was pregnant).
We stopped in the Kasbah Du Toubkal to have a three course lunch and some tea. Of course the food was amazing. Probably the best couscous we had the entire trip! Be warned that the locals know the tour routes and set up shop accordingly. Don't be afraid to say no! We said yes to just "stepping inside" and ended up purchasing a large doormat. Not because we wanted to, but because we bought into their pitch of helping the local economy. We were glad to do it, but wish we didn't feel so pressured to get anything. Looking back, I wish I was a little more prepped on what exactly we would be doing. The company made it seem like it was a walk around the village, but it was more like a hike. It still wasn't too difficult, but would have made the experience a little more enjoyable. Overall, I would definitely recommend this experience to really get a good feel for how local Berber people live and amazing views.
